This IEM opened my eyes to the power of tuning. Brilliant tuning! All arounder IEM that excels with a variety of genres, Rock, Metal, EDM, alternative, etc. It's also very well built, quality shells and drivers.

I'm used to IEM with more project bass, so it took me a bit to acclimate to their sound signature. Once I did, I found that they were great IEM. SOUND: Tight bass, warm lower mids, prominent mids, nicely balanced upper mids and highs with enough energy to satisfy but well below the level where I'd find them fatiguing. Great for classic rock, jazz, and metal (including technical metal). FIT: Absolutely no complaints on the fit. AESTHETICS: Not the flashiest faceplates, but I dig the overall look. ACCESSORIES: Nice cable, good tips, and a case that's great for organizing the IEM, tips, and a dongle DAC. OVERALL: While not my daily drivers, they are a very enjoyable pair that I listen to when I'm in the mood for a technically competent yet smooth warm-neutral IEM. Another great IEM from Penon!

The Fan 2 is a little bit of a JEKLE and HYDE. First listen was with my FiiO M11+ Ltd. I was a little concerned as I expected more out of it. The clarity felt somewhat muddy. Then I tried it with the Caiyn R6 dongle DAC and really no change. However, I pulled out my Ray Samuels Audio SR-71A and connected it directly to the phone DAC using UAPP. Wow, everything changed. It really went to the top of the scale for an IEM of this price. I strongly encourage the use of a good amp as it really opened these up!!

Fan 2 puts timbre and tonal balance at the top of its priority list. Although some reviews are labelling fan 2 as a warm neutral set I don't find it to be so especially compared to truly warm neutral IEMs, Sony IER M9 or Dita Perpetua for example. Fan 2 is a colourful, thick, warm and organic sounding set from my observation. Penon Fan 2 is a highly competent IEM that has that desirable mix in between great timbre and competent technical performances. If you are a ‘fan’ of rich, warm, smooth sound signature but tired of all the technically inept options out there, Fan 2 might be your answer.
